Sakshi Shah, SYBA student, represented India at the 31st Busan Mayor’s Cup and the 12th Korea Open International Karate–Do championships.
In the 31st edition of the Busan Mayor’s Cup and 12th Korea Open International Karate-Do Championship, participants from 15 countries like Korea, India, Pakistan, Egypt, USA, Nepal, Japan, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Taiwan, Sweden, Hong Kong, Russia, Philippines and Uzbekistan had participated.
This tournament was held in the city of Busan, South Korea from the 6th of June to the 13th of June 2019.
Sakshi participated in four events in the senior women category i.e. 18 years and above and secured the following medals in the tournament:
Gold medal – Individual Kumite (-68kgs)
Gold medal — Team Kata
Bronze medal — Team Kumite
The Indian karate contingent finished third in the 31st Busan Mayor’s Cup and 12th Korea Open International Karate-do Championship in Busan and South Korea. India finished third in the overall medal tally with 19 Gold medals, as many Silver medals and 33 Bronze medals under its belt.
